Who makes the best aircraft, Boeing and Airbus?

Marco Stolarz: Aircraft are certified to the exact same standards and governmental regulations. They are made using the material and processes. They are designed using the same computerized tools. They use engines produced by the same companies.Same thing for the internal components (pumps, actuators, avionic boxes).Heck, they are at least partly designed by the *same* people (designers at suppliers, risk-sharing partners, people leaving one company to go work for the other). There are different choices made as far as the target mission. The Boeing 777 for instance currently has the longest range record. The A 380, the largest passenger capacity. In the end, if two planes were designed for the exact same mission, at the same time (so using the same technology; there is not fairness in comparing a 1990 design with a 2008, techniques and materials have improved), they would be hard to tell apart from a speed/range/reliability point of view.Anyone who claims otherwise is speaking! though his hat, and displaying ridiculous chauvinistic positions.(as for Old Man Dirt's claim: what about the 737 rudder PCU faults? What about the improperly unvented 747 center fuel tanks? That you do not hear anything does not mean there isn't something going on, it perhaps only indicate that your ears are clogged)Edit: as for Charles B's claim, with all due respect, he should update his information. The A380 was certified by the FAA as well as by the EASA. As were all Airbus airplane models, by the way. In some cases, this required additional testing, which HAD to be conducted successfully for the type certificate to be issued.Same rules as for the Boeing....Show more

Felicitas Phildor: BOEING

Phillip Modafferi: Its generally Boeing because they use to have the most efficient aircraft because of the Boeing 747. And the Boeing B-52 is a sub-sonic, heavy bomber, military plane. E-3B/C and the E4-B for Special Electronic Missions. Boeing C-17 Globemaster III,B! oeing C-40 Clipper,Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey are all used for mi! litary transport.Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker for aerial refueling. and a few others. while airbus focvuses on only passenger planes.

Daria Verfaillie: Boeing has far better engineering, testing and more skilled technicians building their aircraft. The US FAA is really strict and over cautious in their requirements for domestic manufacturers. The Boeing airframes are nearly timeless. There are 707/KC135's flying that were built in the 1950's, and still in use by the military and foreign countries.Airbus is a French/Anglo consortium that has government involvement, so they can by-pass a lot of the certification and multiple safety requirements that US manufacturers have to comply with. Airbus airframes are literally "throw-away" aircraft....Show more

Josefine Weekey: You can't really compare the two. Anyone that has flown both or that has any common sense will know that both have their advantages and disadvantages. It's like comparing Chevy and Ford. Airbus is in ! first place currently and Boeing in the second.

Gaynell Pizzaro: Boeing has a far better reputation than Scarebus, I'm sorry, I meant Airbus. Look at accidents, and most of them involve Airbus aircraft. Most of the accidents/incidents involving Boeing Aircraft are either minor, or are in 3rd world countries where safety rules are very relaxed and the aircraft are older.

Alisa Kaleiwahea: Boeing.Airbus is made by a consortium of European manufacturers, and is not as reliable.

Ronald Moehr: I would say Boeing

Cierra Gadbaw: People say Boeing because its american and has been in the aviation business for a very long time. But there is little difference concerning, speed, range, safety and reliability. Why? Because the aircraft they make for competition (Ex. A340 VS. 747-4)are up to date on the resources they have. Notice when Boeing announced the 787, Airbus felt a huge threat to the A330. So they proposed the A350. With similar design. The aviation busin! ess is a lot about making money also so airbus stays in competition. Th! ey want the right aircraft competing against other aircraft.Aircraft competitions going on: (present and future)A350 VS. 787A340 VS. 777A320 VS. 737A330 VS. 787 (The A350 was made due to the huge threat in aircraft competing)A321 VS. 757Airbus claims to have 8% less operating costs so time will tell whether the A350 or the 87 is better.Regarding comfort: I like Airbus better. (I have been on Both Boeing and Airbus)...Show more

Evelin Turlich: 1

Christy Tirabassi: airbus

Wilburn Denice: Boeing, for a long list of reasons that I've given several times on Yahoo Answers. If it's not Boeing, I'm not going. As for longevity, the U.S. Air Force still has B-52s made by Boeing in the 1950s on active duty, and intends to continue with them until 2040 or so. They were built 20 years before Airbus was born. Need I say more?...Show more

Dexter Gold: An old saying among pilots goes as such:If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going.

Norris Rosener: boeing cause they've! actually made money on their planes

Emery Blando: Give me any Boeing aircraft over Airbus. The Americans run the airline industry use the aircraft that represents the best of the industry, Boeing. It is also to the point where American English speakers should be pilot and air traffic controllers. People from the rest of the world may speak English but don't understand American English.

Bernie Cerra: I don't remember of any known design flaws in the current Boeing line. But the incident with the Airbus that the air line claims suffered an engine failure due to improper design or quality control problems makes me doubt that Airbus deserves the title of making the best.
