I'm out of shampoo, can I use laundry detergent on my hair?

Frances Macky: The laundry detergent they have here are not good for hair. They have more toxic ingredients than the products they spray on fruits. But you can use a bar of soap, that's good for your body as well as hair.In Asia where I came from, we used a bar of soap for our bodies, hair & laundry.

Talisha Digrande: Dish soap like Palmolive or SunLight or whatever you have under your kitchen sink would be better than laundry detergent.

Moira Woodrow: You can, but I don't think you will do it a second time. Did you ever notice an itch because your clothes didn't get rinsed well? That is what laundry soap does to you. It is an irritant. It's better to brush your hair until you can get to town.

Rachal Osaki: Those chemicals won't be gud for yore hair. Use handsoap

Basil Blasingame: hell no,it will make your hair very rough and unmanageable, also it has harsh chemicals which is very bad for both scalp and hair

Elvin Weichbrodt: No way!The best th! ing to use would be baking soda. Make a paste out of baking soda and water and scrub. I've done this many times and it never hurt my hair -- actually felt clean, never got split ends from it, etc. Condition with diluted (1:4) apple cider vinegar, if you have that.

Vernon Martorana: Eek I wouldn't. You can use bodywash if you have some, or even dish/handsoap would be better. You can also rinse your hair with vinegar in place of shampoo......although it doesn't exactly smell great.
