If i eat food after i start drinking alcohol, it actually makes me feel more buzzed/impaired?

Mel Crapo: Alcohol is just another hard drug. Everyone reacts differently to any drug. Some people have fun socially with alcohol and some people end up drinking mouthwash in a back alley. Your situation is normal. Nothing to worry about unless you end up drinking mouthwash in a back alley!

Jarrod Darnall: It may be the way your body metabolizes the food and alcohol. Sake is rather strong especially if you drink it very warm. Or when you start chewing the food, the saliva begins to digest it so that quicken the effect of everything in your system. No worries though, just be aware that all alcohol takes time to have an effect. Generally it is within one hour of drinking so if you fell buzzed, just know you will be more so soon. Slow down, and have some water or other non-alcoholic drink in between, like tea or a diet soda. Regular soda with sugar can exaggerate the effect as can sweets or high GI carb foods like white rice, bread and dimmer rolls, potatoes, ! etc. Protein like meats or fish, or vegetables such as broccoli or spinach, won't heighten the effect....Show more

Donny Bankson: sounds like your body metabolizes the food pretty quick and the alcohol gets into your blood a little faster at that point. your body may not metabolize the alcohol as fast as some other people

Dexter Dingus: I dont drink that much at all but the first time it happened to me i was drinkinh=g sake for a while until our food came and the minute i started eating, my alcohol just hit me...i sobered up...i didnt crash or feel super tired....but it was very weird...when it happens and i sip water it helps to bring me down....
