Financial Aid?

Nelly Kikuchi: People are confused about the meaning of EFC (expected family contribution). The EFC in theory means that according to the information on your FAFSA, this is the amount your family could reasonably be expected to come out of pocket for. In reality, it is an index for awarding aid.My guess is that the EFC increase is a result of verification. The increase is very slight and will result in negligible difference in your financial aid eligibility....Show more

Claude Gloden: yes that is your contribution EFC stands for Expected Family Contribution visit the web for detail https://www.collegedata.com/promo/promo_efc_tmpl.j...

Romeo Tinnea: Federal aid can help pay for you living accomidations at school. First, the money has to go to tuition, any left over money can then be used to purchase books/housing, and anything left can be used as a "living expense" for you to get in cash. The trick is to fill out the fasfa and all other student aid as an i! ndependent. Whether or not your parents are helping you fund college, you should be the one on the loans and stuff, you will get a higher amount that way.

Torri Tippey: So this semester is already almost gone, next is coming. Aid I'm supposed to receive next semester is ~ 2300$. My parents just divorced, dad is now retired, mom makes roughly 2500$ / month for both me and my brother. Is it too late to edit my FAFSA info or can I still do it and get more money for next semester? Does anyone know?I need all the money I can right now because I just got layed off.. Please let me know, and thank you in advance. Hope you guys have a nice Cyber Monday today!...Show more

Carlee Tangaro: You can complete the Entrance Counseling, it will not affect you changing the loan amount in any way, you will just have to make sure you let your Financial Aid Office know you want to lower the amount. It does not matter what order you do it in.

Elvin Weichbrodt: The info on your ! fafsa is based off of their income from 2009... him retiring n! ow isn't going to change the income from 2009. So no way to "fix" his income because their is nothing to fix. YOu can tell them YOU were just laid off, and see if they can do anything, but it may not make a difference.

Joie Libutti: FAFSA cannot be editted midway through the semester. It is based off of yearly income and counts for the entire year.

Lissette Semon: ok so am doing an entrance counseling for a direct plus loan undergraduate and i dont need the whole amount that the school offered me i just need 2000 from it and the school said we need to do the entrance counselling to accept the loan so should i do it know or should i tell the school what i really need then do it thanks

Elli Esaw: Yes if you get enough money from financial aid to cover it, you can pay your housing bill with it.

Kellie Waycott: well i filled out a fafsa and i just wanted to know if i can go to a college that is far from my house and get a dorm and not pay for it......i! really dont have the money....does anyone know about this.....please help!!

Jill Thomer: Yeah it could, the financial aid department will put together a package for you based on your parents expected financial contribution, which is calculated from the fafsa. If you're parents expected financial contribution is really low, like less than $2000.00, you should get most of the financial need based grants that are available. Then depending on what your total bill is, it may cover everything. If you're going to a really expensive college, it may not and then you'll have to put it on student loans if you don't want to pay it. The financial aid department should tell you how much they're going to give you a good month or so before your bills are due. Good Luck!...Show more
