Roselee Mczeal: There are a few reasons why a "academic education" is not only necessary but imperative for the individual who wishes to teach primary students ...by age 4 a child has developed 90% of his/her personalityby age 3 a child has learned the basic concepts of right vs wrongby age 5 when present a child is able to speak up to four languages when s/he hears them ate home or in the communityby age 5 a child is able to learn the concepts of Algebra, chess, card games, etc.by age 5 "... [t]hese children have a vocabulary of 5,000 to 8,000 words, and pronounce words easily. They use more complex sentences, and can take turns in a conversation. They interrupt less frequently and listen better to others ..."A teacher of primary students must know how to address all of this based on sound academic, psychological, and social grounds an! d do so accurately while all the time challenging the child to grow in skills, cognitive abilities, social awareness, physically, and emotionally. The question is not why 'a "academic education" is not only necessary but imperative for the individual who wishes to teach primary students' but rather why are more individuals not aware of the fantastic opportunities for learning and skills teaching of a child who is in the "primary" grades?...Show more
