Which Tivo box should I get?

Lolita Deschamp: You left out an important piece of information; how are you getting your TV signals?In that price range you are looking at Series 2 Tivos. Those only have analog tuners, so to record digital TV signals you have to use a converter or cable box. The Series 2 came with an IR blaster cable for controlling such boxes. The blaster can only control one box. For antenna signals you want a single tuner model. They are the only ones that can control (some models of) a common antenna converter box. For cable use the single tuner model can also control a cable box/DTA adapter.>isn't all cable digital now??No. But cable companies are switching to all digital systems, so even if you have analog cable now you want to plan ahead. If you are only recording cable TV, you probably want a dual tuner model model. The Tivo will only be able to control one cable box/DTA adapter, but you can probably connect a second cable box/DTA adapter and manually record a second channel us! ing the second tuner. (I don't have a Series 2 to try this out.)If you want to go real cheap the Series 1 Tivo can also use an IR blaster to control a cable box.
