Elsie Resner: Well now you know why I recommend never loaning your car out to anyone, they will not take as good a care of it as you do. And to let someone take it on a long trip is even more ludicrouse as the wear and tear comes out of your pocket. If someone does not have a car, and wants to take a trip tell them to rent a car but yours is not leaving the driveway. Anyone who borrows your car has to bring it back in the same or better shape, minus normal wear and tear. If your vehicle was damaged by that perso! n and they refuse to pay the damages, you to make a attempt to! collect the damages to satisfy the requirements for small claims court. Make a phone call, and follow that up with a certified letter with a request to pay the damages, including an estimate to repair the vehicle. Even if they refuse the certified letter thats ok, take that to court as proof they were not cooperating anyway and pay a process server to deliver the court papers it works a lot better.
